november niceties

It seems like I’m always up to my ears in new magazines. I have a pretty valid excuse though; since being a writer is my future/desired profession, it’s all just research… and great material for collages when I’m done reading. As well as documenting the newest periodicals, I snapped a few shots of some necklaces old and new.

Little known fact? That box or drawer of old jewelry is a goldmine, and you don’t even realize it. When was the last time you went through it? Five, maybe even ten years ago? I’m urging you to break that thing out and “shop your closet” in a sense. Get past those dinky little beaded elastic bracelets you made on Saturday afternoons when you were eight and look for the the stuff your mom or dad or grandparents or family friends gave you, the really nice stuff. Even some pieces you bought awhile ago and tossed aside can seem exciting again! I guarantee that if you’re feeling the urge to shop for jewelry, you’ll discover some free, forgotten gems that can instantly spice up an outfit. (This also applies to a parent’s old stash of jewelry… ask nicely and you may receive.)

why you’d want to live here

Whenever I come home for the weekend, everything else stops. I sleep, I eat, I relax. I pore over my extensive stash of magazines old and new, catch up on HGTV shows, and curl up with the cats. I laze around and try not to think of homework. In essence, my normal, everyday life—or at least, what has become my normal, everyday life—is put on hold.
