givenchy love

Obsessed with Givenchy’s Fall collection. Colors, textures, jewel-like adornments… Tisci is a wonder. Not sure if Dior would be the right fit, but I guess it could work.

dapper and dandy
Tokyo-based designer Mug takes the concept of “Youth Cult” to G.V.G.V. this fall, producing edgy-grunge, collegiate looks that perpetuate the line’s tailored mix of masculinity and femininity. Moving away from the worldly, bohemian aesthetic of Spring/Summer, Mug transferred the G.V.G.V. woman from a “Summer of Love” music festival to the chilly grounds of an English university. The ratio of ’90s influence to scholarly duds is heavily leaning towards the latter, yet rebellious touches are ever present in the use of fabric, choice of footwear, and occasional baggy silhouette.
The collection turns tradition on its head with clashing plaid patterns, leather shirts, and unexpected applications of leopard print, such as on creepers and blouse sleeves. Outerwear including blazers, trenches, and varsity jackets incorporate a patchwork of checks and colors, adding interest and youthful personality to the sophisticated studious style. A leather pleated maxi skirt, a blue tartan blazer and skirt, and Peter Pan-collared tops are standout pieces among the already memorable assemblage. Boxy miniature satchels, tube socks, black skimmers, skinny specs, and academic emblems properly polish off layers of wool, texture, and tweed.
With bold lips and loosely braided locks, the G.V.G.V. gal makes college life look easy. Though woolen sweaters and coats keep the body warm, this collection will instantly make anyone feel smart, in control, and cool. Really cool.
monochrome mix
I’m having a graphic moment. Cannot get over this black and white blouse, which would work beautifully with dark-washed jeans and the black flats (so. chic.) also shown above. The polka dot pants are super cute and versatile, almost like leopard as a neutral, and I would definitely love to experiment pairing prints with them. In the back of my mind, I must have been channeling my post about this fall’s black and white trend.
