Autumn Obsessions | Crossbody Craze

My bag lady streak continues! As I began to compile some of my favorite fall finds, I realized that 99% of the links I’ve saved over the last few months were for crossbodys. Where does it end? Can this crossbody craving be satisfied? Why is one bag never enough!?

Because that’s just how the fashion industry works. Our aspirations seem possible when our desires are filled, but the fashion machine continues to produce more goods, and more fantasies, and just when we think we’re fulfilled, we begin to want something new, we begin to dream, and pretty soon we have new wardrobes and handbags and mountains of shoes and still feel empty inside.

In short, I love these bags. To death. That is all.

go for broke

wishlist

If I attempted to purchase all these lovelies, I would literally be going for broke; but there’s something about all these bold colors that reflects my current state of mind. The order that holds this jumble of electric accessories and home decor in place is what I’m searching for. I want to harness my creative energies and pursue all kinds of endeavors. As I near life in the “real world,” I want to take advantage of my inspiration at this moment and channel it, from knocking out some kick-ass writing to crafting a portfolio of visual and design work to enlivening my wardrobe and making fashion fun again. I have a good feeling about this (almost halfway done) year. Things are happening.

Black and white (and grey… and cream…) have been in heavy rotation lately. There’s something about these basic “non”-colors that makes dressing feel simple and look clean. It’s easy grab’n’go wear, so it’s no wonder that these scrumptious pieces have caught my eye. Plaid is also a favorite of mine… I’m really pining over those pants. And that round cross-body bag with the hand motif drives me crazy.

vintage vroom

Kate Spade New York‘s colorful and whimsical accessories have been keeping my attention as of late, and when I spied the Knock On Wood Car Clutch I fell deeply in love. After browsing Zappos I went directly to the store to look this beauty over as I possess a passion for all cars retro. I had a hard time drawing myself away (good thing my boyfriend was there, otherwise I would have forgotten about groceries and just bought the damn thing!), and since I don’t own a single clutch I was suddenly dreaming of Sunday brunch or a downtown stroll accompanied by Kate Spade’s charming woodie.

prominent pumps

It’s been awhile since I checked out J.Crew‘s offering of accessories (their chunky necklaces and elegant earrings are my go-to for jewelry), but the newest line of footwear is giving baubles a run for their money. And boy, does J.Crew tout shoes in some shocking shades. Yesterday I fell in love with the Everly Suede Pump when I started browsing the Handbag and Shoe Shop; my eye was immediately drawn to the bold lime green and electric blue hues. Pairing crazy color with a sleek, classic design makes these kicks irresistible in my book, since they can easily be dressed up or down. I’ve recently acquired a bit of a shoe obsession, and I’m hoping I can resist considering the hefty price tag on these babies. Let’s just see how things look after a paycheck or two ;).
